After some fun exploring around Newcastle and the North East, the ninth part of Exploring the East Coast Mainline saw me returning to more local stations, with me aiming to tick off the six from Hitchin to Hatfield. Vaguely familiar from my days of passing through on fast trains to and from London, all six stations on this bit of the East Coast Mainline are in Hertfordshire.
Its been a while since I’ve done a ‘5 Places’ post, but a cancelled trip and a gap in my posting schedule means I’m sharing more of my bucket list with 5 more places I want to visit. This list isn’t geographically specific like previous lists so the five places listed below range from the UK to the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
The eighth part of my series Exploring the East Coast saw me catching an early morning LNER service north to tick off the three remaining stations between Peterborough and Morpeth. With a plan to head north and work my way back south, the plan was to cover the stations of Northallerton, Thirsk and York.
Having spent 36 hours or so exploring the wonderful city of Krakow, it was time to head to the station to begin my journey home. As with my flight out to Krakow, my flight home was with Wizz Air, but first I had to catch the half hourly service between Krakow Glówny station and Krakow Airport.
I’ve decided to do this destination blog post about Krakow a bit differently and split it into a few sections, rather than have one continuous post about my visit. Hopefully it’ll be an enjoyable read, but as always, feedback is appreciated.
With six and a half months left on my passport, I had decided that there was just enough time to maximise its use and take another trip before that pesky, post-Brexit, six-month expiry rule kicked in. Therefore, with a cheap hostel booked and some equally cheap flights, I was up and heading to Luton at 0400 ready for my flight to Krakow with Wizz.
