t 0530 on a clear but cool morning in late August I arrived at Hampton-in-Arden station to the southeast of Birmingham to start my day trip to Dublin.

MAD to LHR Iberia Business
After a wonderful few days in Madrid, it was time to head back to the airport to catch my flight back to the UK. As I’d flown out to Madrid with British Airways, I thought I should try their IAG sister airline and OneWorld partner, Iberia, on the way back. As with my flight out I had planned my travel to take advantage of the one wide-body flight a day and was therefore scheduled to be travelling on a Airbus A340.
LHR to MAD British Airways Club Europe
The first Monday in September saw a vast proportion of Britain’s schools return after the summer break and people returning to work after their holidays. For me however it brought the day I had been excited about for months, the day I was flying to Madrid with British Airways (BA) in Club Europe.
Rating my Journeys
Now this blog has been up and running for a few months, and I’ve reviewed a few trips, both on trains and in the air, I’ve decided to change how I score the various journeys I go on. Hopefully the new ratings system I’ve decided on will better look at all the relevant criteria and better place trips on the league tables that will soon go live on the website. I should also be able to use this scoring system on all journeys whether they be by train or plane, in standard class, first, economy or business.
CGN to STN Eurowings Biz Class
After a whirlwind tour of Cologne and an excellent hot dog (read about that here!) I headed back to Cologne airport about 3 hours before my flight. This is generally a bit longer than I’d usually allow myself for a short-haul flight, however on this occasion I had good reason. I was flying Business Class!
STN to CGN Eurowings Economy
My journey to Cologne actually started with a drive to Audley End station in Cambridgeshire and CrossCountry’s first service of the day from Cambridge to Stansted Airport.
