I remember visiting Birmingham Airport with my Dad to go spotting a few times during my childhood, and then during my teenage years making the trip by bus and train alone as my fascination of aviation developed. Back then, Birmingham had an indoor visitor centre on the second floor of the terminal building that provided okay views out over the main apron, slightly obscured by the triangular roof of the lower part of the terminal building in front. Unfortunately, as with my youth, this visitor centre is long gone, swallowed up by various airport expansions and developments over the years, however unlike many other UK airports Birmingham Airport does retain an official 'plane spotting' area.

EIN to STN Ryanair Economy
My trip to Eindhoven and The Netherlands had unfortunately only been partially successful and, having ran out of things to do in a closed Eindhoven, I was back at Eindhoven Airport a few hours ahead of my flight home. I’d once again be flying with Ryanair to London’s Stansted airport, the low-cost carrier’s largest base and an airport I’m not a fan of arriving into as its quite often chaotic. Would it be any different on this occasion?
Eindhoven – Spotting at the Airport ‘Panorama Terrace’
Having had a day unsuccessfully exploring the city of Eindhoven, as well as a jaunt to the Dutch/Belgian border, I was back at Eindhoven airport a few hours before my flight and with some time to spare before heading through security. As such, there was only one thing I could reasonably do, check out the viewing terrace at the airport, and see what aircraft I could spot.
Eindhoven, North Brabant and a Tiny Bit of Belgium
Having arrived at Eindhoven airport on a Ryanair flight from Stansted, getting into the city itself was pretty simple, with two bus routes (the 400 and 401) connecting the airport and main railway station in about 25 minutes. I bought my ticket in advance online, but you can also buy them on the bus, with a return costing me around £8.30. The journey into the city was stress free, although I should have probably jumped off at the penultimate stop (Eindhoven Piazza) as its closer to the actual city centre and you also don’t have to work your way back across from the other side of the railway lines.
STN to EIN Ryanair Economy
Back at the end of March, with a few days off work and a yearning to explore, I had booked myself some cheap Ryanair flights for a daytrip to Europe. Just across the North Sea from the UK, The Netherlands is one of our closest neighbours, meaning it was just a short flight from Stansted that would take me to the Dutch city of Eindhoven. Whilst I’ve visited The Netherlands a couple of times before, this would be my first visit to Eindhoven, and I was looking forward to exploring. However, first I had to get there!
BIO to LGW Vueling ‘Space Plus’
After an enjoyable couple of days exploring the beautiful city of Bilbao, it was time for me to leave the Basque Country and head home. As with my flight out, my flight back to the UK was with low-cost carrier, Vueling, who would take me from northern Spain back to London’s Gatwick airport.
