After a great few days away in southern Germany exploring in and around Lindau and the Bodensee, including a lap of the lake visiting four countries in one day, it was unfortunately time to head home. As with our flight out to Germany, we’d be flying back to the UK with British Airways (BA), this time on BA921, their evening flight from Stuttgart to Heathrow.
If you’ve read last week’s post, you’ll know we got up to plenty during our time staying near Lindau. You’ll also know I hinted at a day where, thanks to Lindau’s location on the Bodensee and it being close to the Austria border, we visited four countries in one day. Whilst you don’t have to read that post, I’d certainly recommend it however, as promised, this post is all about the day where we visited Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein and Switzerland all in one day!
Back in August we were fortunate to be able to spend a few days in southern Germany, basing ourselves in the town of Lindau on the northern shore of the Bodensee. Whilst our arrival into Stuttgart on a British Airways flight from Heathrow had been smooth and uneventful, we unfortunately had some issues with our car hire, delaying our departure from the airport. However, we eventually set off on the two-hour drive south via the German autobahns to our accommodation on the outskirts of Lindau, which would be our base for five nights.
Back at the start of August we were lucky enough to be able to enjoy a few days away in southern Germany, on the shores of the Bodensee and close to the Austrian and Swiss borders. Given we were only away for a few days, we didn’t really have time to take the ‘adventurous’ route south and so took the more direct route by flying and then hiring a car. As such our holiday started at London Heathrow, with a flight to Stuttgart with British Airways.
Back in July I was once again up in Scotland for work, although this time I had a free day in the middle of my visit and so decided to head up to my favourite spot in the Highlands for the day, Corrour. Wanting to make the most of my time and also try out a slightly different way of getting along the West Highland Line, my day started at the unreasonable hour of 0530 as I made my way to Glasgow Queen Street to catch the Fort William portion of the Caledonian Sleeper.
Having had a great weekend exploring in and around Cork, it was time to head home. Unlike my last trip to Cork where I took a circuitous route home via Dublin with Iarnród Éireann and Aer Lingus Regional, this time we’d be taking a more direct route with Aer Lingus from Cork to London Heathrow. This flight would be the other ‘half’ of the roundtrip that we flew to Cork on, with the early evening departure from Cork forming the late evening return flight from England.
