The end of May saw me preparing for another trip with this one planned to tick off the final one of the four constituent nations of the United Kingdom that I was yet to visit, Northern Ireland. Rather than undertake the ‘usual’ trip to Belfast, I had decided to do something different and head to Derry/Londonderry. As such my trip began at Heathrow for a morning flight across the Irish Sea with Loganair.

EDB-EUS Caledonian Sleeper – Classic
After an enjoyable couple of nights in Corrour, followed by a less enjoyable journey south via a combination of train and rail replacement minibus, we were back in Edinburgh ready to start the penultimate leg of our journey home.
Choosing Corrour Again
The middle of April saw us returning to Scotland for my fifth visit of the year, although this time we were heading to spend a couple of nights at our favourite place. Caledonian Sleeper had taken us to Fort William and a ride back south on Scotrail brought us to our destination. This post is all about why we were Choosing Corrour Again!

SUN-KGX Grand Central – 1st Class
Following a couple of days based in Newcastle to complete some more Exploring the East Coast, I had decided to make my way back south by a slightly more unusual method. As such I headed from the Tyne to the Wear and to Sunderland station to begin my journey to London with Grand Central.
Exploring the East Coast – Chathill, Pegswood and Berwick-upon-Tweed
Back in March I based myself in Newcastle for a couple of nights to complete some more stations for Exploring the East Coast, leading to both episode 12 and this one (episode 13). You can also check out the videos for both on my YouTube channel. The key feature of both episodes was poorly timed and infrequent trains, so its only right that this one started with an 0557 departure from Newcastle.
